Before Tintin, there was Totor...

Blistering barnacles!
Here is an interesting story you may not have heard of !

The creator of Tintin, a man by the name of Herge (his real name was Georges Remi), created and published his first comic strip in 1926 that tells the story of a Boy Scout called Totor on his adventures with the Maybug Patrol. This character was based on his own Scouting experiences would go on to later become the inspiration for the famous Tintin, which to date, has sold more than 200 million copies and has been translated into more than 50 languages.

It is interesting to note that recently, an extensive mural which Herge painted as a 15-year-old Scout – six years before he was to create Tintin, has been discovered almost a century later. In an unused corridor of his old school in Brussels, someone decided to redecorate, and by chance came across his mural that showed knights in armour, Indians and Scouts.

Interesting story!
